Support a Scholarship Fund for Women of Color and Non-Binary Individuals in Tech

In today's tech landscape, women of color and non-binary individuals are seeking visibility, professional connections, and the chance to acquire new skills.

“Women - and particularly women of color- are underrepresented in the US tech sector. Tech companies continue to hire and promote white and Asian men from elite educational institutions.” - McKinsey

While online learning and bootcamps can open doors for more inclusivity in tech, a majority of these programs are full-time, in-person, programs with expensive upfront costs, monthly fees, and income-share agreements that the average person cannot afford.

She Designs Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded by Googler, sharaegibbs@, that offers scholarships to underrepresented women of color and non-binary individuals pursuing careers in tech. Our flagship initiative, the Women of Color in Tech Scholarship, addresses the financial hardships faced by hundreds of applicants each year, thus knocking down barriers to education and success.  Consider that in 2023, the tech industry witnessed massive layoffs affecting more than 183,000 workers, posing a serious threat to the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts that were imposed in the last few years.

She Designs provides a direct pathway to tech roles, a robust mentorship program, career preparation, and access to a supportive community of over 2,000 professional women and allies in the tech community.  With a 100% graduation rate among enrolled students, our instructors prioritize inclusive design thinking, fostering a sense of belonging in our program. In addition to the technical skills, our students learn how to develop their resume, customize their cover letter, LinkedIn optimization, portfolio creation, and effective networking both in-person and online.

This year, our goal is to raise $50,000, to sustain our operations at shedesigns.org and continue  supporting women of color and non-binary people in their career advancement.
